Check whether the key can be turned freely

Check that there are no external hindrances to key rotation

Example: incorrect position of the steering column cover

If the steering column cover interferes, remove the steering column cover and go to Step 2

Check whether the key can be turned freely

Check that there are no external hindrances to key rotation without steering column cover by carrying out the manoeuvre as follows:

a) Turn the key to Avv

b) Brake and prevent the key from returning to Mar by gripping it by hand

1. The key always returns to the Mar position. Refit the steering column cover and take care that it no longer interferes with the key rotation (return from AVV) after fitting

2. The key does not return to Mar, the switch does not operate; replace the steering lock even if the key remains in an intermediate position between Mar and Avv.
