SOLUTION IF CHECK IS NOT OK

Check whether the rotor exits

After removing the key, check the complete movement/exit of the rotor

The rotor exits correctly (Fig. 2)

 

The rotor does not exit correctly (Fig. 1)

Remove the lock and replace it if necessary

Check whether steering locking failure persists

Check whether steering locking failure persists after moving the steering column to the various adjustment positions available for the car model

 

1. If the steering locks only in one of the possible adjustment positions, go to Step 3

2. The steering locking failure persists in all positions, go to Step 3

Check the fixing bracket positioning with respect to the steering column

Remove the steering column cover and check the correct fixing bracket positioning with respect to the steering column.

(The manufacturing date must be indicated in the lower part of the bracket and the arrow, if present, must point upwards)

The manufacturing date is indicated with year/month = number/letter

Example: 2.006 April= 6D

The bracket is fitted correctly (Fig. 3)

 

The bracket is not fitted correctly (Fig. 4), remove the steering lock from the steering column and go to Step 4

Check that the catch has exited

With the item removed, check that the catch has exited. The catch exits correctly (Fig. 5)

Take a new bracket from Spare Parts Dpt., position it correctly (Fig. 3) and refit the steering lock checking for any hindrance on the steering column.

 

The catch does not exit (Fig. 6)

Replace the steering lock

   Op. 5520A14 IGNITION KEY LOCK BARREL - R+R

and the fixing bracket and position the latter correctly (Fig.3)
