a) After having removed the flywheel, place the DVA on a workbench with the secondary mass up;

b) position a comparator on the friction surface within a radius of R=115 mm and reset the instrument;

c) press the secondary flywheel from the opposite side;

d) read the peak value measurement

Acceptability is determined when there is a maximum excursion of 3 mm; replace the dual mass flywheel if this is not so

A DVA with a damaged starting ring gear must be replaced where there is damage or wear to the teeth on the ring gear
