a) After having removed the flywheel, place the DVA on a workbench with the secondary mass up;

b) pre-load the secondary mass in an angular clockwise direction until the reaction of the springs can be felt;

c) mark a notch on the main and secondary masses;

b) rotate the secondary mass in the opposite direction (anticlockwise) until the reaction of the springs can be felt;

e) count the number of teeth on the starting ring gear between the two notches



Acceptability is determined when there is a maximum excursion of 6 teeth on the starting ring gear; replace the dual mass flywheel if this is not so

A DVA with a damaged starting ring gear must be replaced where there is damage or wear to the teeth on the ring gear
