GENERAL INFORMATIONThe sunroof for this model consists of a specific system with broad glazing called Skywing with a mobile glass panel. The glass extends from a roof duct to the other and covers approximately 50% of the surface of the roof. The glazing when closed lets in light and allows to look outside from inside the car. Approximately half of the roof surface can be opened. When the moving panel is opening it slides outside the roof panel (spoiler position). CompositionThe sunroof consists of the following parts: - a metal frame to which the other components are fastened; - a system of right and left mechanisms, secured to the frame, for moving the glass panel, operated by the electric motor by means of a coiled metal cable; - a tempered glass panel, 4 millimetre thick, low energy (<17%) and light (>17%) transmission. - sun curtain and polyester roller, manually operated, with side guides. The diagram illustrates the sun roof components.

OperationThe Skywing sunroof is operated by means of the controls on the panel near the central ceiling light. The operating strategy described below is achieved by operating an electric motor managed by an electronic control unit. Sun roof movements via the control key are allowed only with key on. CURTAIN OPENING/CLOSING The light intensity inside the passenger compartment can be adjusted by a sun curtain. The sun curtain is made of polyester and is provided with a roller and guides to hold it in place. It is opened and closed manually with the release and movement lever. The sun curtain can be closed irrespective of the position of the front panel.
OPENING THE ROOF Pressing the button (opening side) with the key on allows two opening methods for the front glass panel: - automatic: pressing the button on the "open" side (for longer than 300 ms), the glass panel goes from all closed position to maximum tilt position; pressing the same side of the button again to take the panel to all open position; after the initial opening command, the panel can be stopped in intermediate positions by pressing the button again. - manual: pressing the button briefly (for a time from 60 to 300 ms) from completely closed, the front panel moves proportionally to the time T that the button is pressed and it stops in that position when the button is released; pressing the button again on the same side and always within the time span T between 60 and 300 ms, the panel will move in steps into the maximum opening position. This function allows the front panel to be positioned in positions intermediate to those achieved during automatic opening. CLOSING THE ROOF Like opening, pressing the button (closing side), with key on only, allows to operating mode: - automatic: pressing the button normally on the open side (for longer than 300 ms), the glass panel will go from all open to maximum tilt position; pressing the same side of the button again will take the panel to the closed position. After the initial opening command, the glass panel can be stopped in intermediate positions by pressing the button again. - manual: pressing the button briefly (for a time from 60 to 300 ms) from all open, the front panel moves proportionally to the time that the button is pressed from 60 to 300 ms and it stops in that position when the button is released; pressing the button again on the same side and always for from 60 to 300 ms, the panel will move in steps into the closed position. This function allows the panel to be positioned in positions intermediate to those achieved during automatic opening.
Anti-pinch safety functionThe sunroof has an anti-pinch safety system capable of detecting the presence of an obstacle whilst the roof is closing; when this happens, the system stops and the movement of the glass is immediately reversed. In addition to conforming with the requirement of directive 2000/4/CE, the anti-pinch safety function, managed by the electronic control unit, is activated during the horizontal and vertical closing of the panel after an obstacle (e.g. finger, hand) is encountered: - during the horizontal closure movement, it is active throughout the travel (if it had been opened by more than 4 mm).If it meets an obstacle on the front side of the glass panel, it guarantees the reversal of motion for a travel of 100 mm from the movement reversal point. - during the vertical closure movement, it is active (if previously opened by more than 4mm from the seal) after meeting an obstacle on the rear side of the panel, it ensures the direction of motion is reversed until the max tilting position is reached. In both cases, the reversal load is < 100 N, as required by Directive 2000/4/EC. The possibility of crushing from the inside of the vehicle in the side areas of the panel is avoided through the adoption of side guards that prevent access to risk areas. Initialisation procedureThe sunroof must be re-initialised after disconnecting the battery or if the relevant protection fuse is blown. Proceed as follows: - press the closing button until the roof is completely shut; then release the button; - press close button and keep it pressed for at least 10 seconds and/or until the glass panel clicks forwards. Release the button at this point; press the button again within 5 seconds and hold it pressed: the glass panel will complete a full opening and closing cycle. Only release the button at the end of this cycle. Emergency operationIf the switch does not work, the sunroof can be operated manually as follows: - remove the protective cap on the rear part of the internal panel on the central crossmember of the roof; - take the Allen key that comes with the vehicle located with the vehicle documentation or in the tool box in the boot; - introduce the Allen key into housing A and turn clockwise to open the roof or anti-clockwise to close the roof.
Safety and technical specificationsThe design of the sun roof meets very stringent criteria, guaranteeing a sturdy product that it suitable for even the most demanding operating conditions:
