Refitting

- Place the vehicle on a lift.

    Op. 4450B02 LEFT FRONT WHEEL - R.R.

1. Undo the nut (1a) and disconnect the anti-roll bar joint (1b) from the shock absorber.

1. Release the wiring retaining clip.

1. Release the wiring for the ABS rpm sensor from the shock absorber.

2. Open the clip and release the brake fluid pipe from the shock absorber.

3. Disconnect the electrical connection for the front left SCS actuator.

1. Undo the bolts securing the shock absorber to the wheel strut.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the front right vertical acceleration sensor.

1. Undo the nut fastening the shock absorber to the body.

Before undoing the nut (1a), insert the reaction wrench correctly right into the hexagonal groove at the upper end of the shock absorber stem.

2. Remove the flexible plate.

- Working via the wheel arch, remove the spring-shock absorber assembly.

- Fit the shock absorber-spring assembly on the special tool.

1. Undo the nut and remove the buffer (1b) using the tool (1a).

1. Remove the shock absorber and the buffer from the tool.

1. Remove the dust cover.

2. Unload the spring and remove it from the tool.

Removing

- Assemble the end of travel buffer, the spring and the dust cover on the shock absorber.

- Compress the spring using the tool.

- Place the upper buffer for the spring back in its housing and tighten the nut securing it to the shock absorber stem to the recommended torque using the tool.

- Remove the spring/shock absorber assembly from the tool.

- Place the spring-shock absorber assembly in position and screw it in provisionally without tightening the nut securing it to the body.

1. Tighten the new bolts fixing the shock absorber to the steering knuckle to the recommended torque.

To tighten to torque, position the torque wrench on the nut and not on the bolt.

1. Connect the anti-roll bar joint (1a) to the shock absorber and tighten the nut (1b) to the recommended torque.

- Connect the electrical connection for the front right vertical acceleration sensor

- Connect the electrical connection for the front left SCS actuator.

- Attach the brake fluid pipe to the shock absorber bracket and close the retaining clip.

- Press fit the wiring for the ABS wheel rpm sensor on the shock absorber.

- Engage the wiring retaining clip.

1. With the vehicle on the ground, tighten the nut securing the shock absorber to the body screwed in previously to the recommended torque.

    Op. 4440B48 BODY ACCELERATION SENSOR ON FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER DOME (ONE), LH OR RH - R.R.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.
