DESCRIPTION

This model can be equipped with a UCONNECT TM 5" Radio Nav radio navigator, specifically designed to be integrated on the car: it is a 5" TOUCHSCREEN radio (called "VP2"), available in different versions, with or without "DAB" (new Digital Radio standard).

The navigation system, developed in collaboration with TomTom, is incorporated in the radio with pre-loaded maps of major European states.

The navigation system with road maps makes it possible to determine the position of the vehicle on the map at any time (for both urban and extra-urban/motorway road networks) showing it on the radio navigator display.

In this way the driver is guided step-by-step to the required destination, by means of voice messages and visual information. The system also provides additional information for reaching general services, namely: hotels, car parks, restaurants, chemists', service stations, hospitals, FIAT workshops, railway stations, airports, etc.

The navigation system uses GPS (Global Positioning System) satellite location technology and is inside the radio navigation unit.

Vehicle position is identified by analysing GPS data together with speedometer and reverse gear signals received from the vehicle.

The radio is a CAN node through which information is exchanged with the Body Computer and with the other electronic units.

The radio is equipped with an anti-theft system through the connection of the radio on the CAN with the Body Computer; it also manages volume control linked to the vehicle speed: the volume increases and decreases in relation to the speed of the vehicle: this information reaches the radio node through the CAN.

Some versions are equipped with a series of buttons on the steering wheel: these make it possible to replicate some of the commands which are acquired in the same way by the radio itself.

An external source can be connected to the AUX socket, located at the bottom of the central console

The stylus aerial is fitted at the rear of the roof and has three functions (FM1 radio, DAB radio, if present, and GPS).

The FM2 radio aerial uses the heated rear window heating elements.

In the Start&Stop versions, the "VP2-NAV" radio supply is controlled by a device inside it and AN EXTERNAL VOLTAGE STABILISER IS NOT NECESSARY.
