Wiring between radio and AM - FM aerial base

Check that the radio-aerial base connecting cables are not squeezed or cut. Move them slightly to check for possible invisible damage

All checks must be carried out with the AM-FM base supplied, connected to the wiring and radio on

Go to Step 2

Squeezed/cut radio-aerial base connecting cables

Restore correct operation of the radio-aerial base connecting cables.

Before testing the system, turn the radio off and on

AM-FM signal cable connector

Check that the AM-FM signal cable connector is correctly fitted into the receiver

Go to Step 3

The AM-FM signal cable connector is not fitted correctly

Refit the AM-FM signal cable connector into the receiver correctly

Before testing the system, turn the radio off and on

Receiver - radio aerial base wiring

Where present, check that the external supply cable is correctly connected.

Go to Step 4

Supply cable not correctly connected

Reconnect the external supply cable correctly

Before testing the system, turn the radio off and on

Receiver - radio aerial base wiring

Where present, check that the wiring of the radiant element on the window is intact

Go to Step 5

Wiring of the radiant element not intact

Refit the wiring of the radiant element on the window correctly

Before testing the system, turn the radio off and on

AM - FM aerial stem

Check whether the stem is correctly tightened on the radio base cover and intact.

Go to Step 6

Aerial stem not correctly tightened/not intact

Restore correct tightening of the aerial stem/replace the non-intact stem

AM - FM aerial stem

Replace the stem with one in working order and check that the fault is no longer present

Go to Step 7

The audio system is in working order

Replace the stem

Stem nut tightening

Check whether the base nut is correctly tightened and whether the base is fully in contact with the vehicle's roof

Go to Step 8

The base nut is not correctly tightened

Tighten the base nut correctly

Wiring between radio and AM - FM aerial base

Temporarily replace the wiring between the radio and the AM - FM aerial base with another one in working order, and check that the fault does not show up again.

Before testing the system, turn the radio off and on

End of diagnosis

The fault is still present

AM - FM aerial base

Check that the audio system operates correctly by fitting the broken base on a vehicle in which the base is known to be in working order

The audio system does not work

Replace the AM - FM aerial base
