Removing ( Refitting )

Follow the recommended safety instructions (see 5040 - Introduction).

   Op. 5040 AIR CONDITIONING CASING AND COMPONENTS

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

   Op. 1016A10 SOUND-PROOFING COVER - R.R

- Drain the coolant.

   Op. 0010T84 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM REFRIGERANT - DEHYDRATING AND REPRESSURIZING

   Op. 1048A10 AIR FILTER ASSEMBLY - R.R.

   Op. 7055B54 PROTECTION/GUARD UNDER ENGINE -R.R.

   Op. 7055B56 RIGHT SIDE UNDER-ENGINE PROTECTION/GUARD

1. Undo the bolt (1a) and disconnect the connector (1b) and the connector (1c) from the condenser (1d).

Seal the connectors that have been disconnected using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.

1. Disconnect the retaining bands (1a) from the pipes (1b).

2. Disconnect the electrical connection for the linear transducer.

LINEAR SENSOR FOR FANS

3. Press the tabs (3a) for the rapid connector (3b), then disconnect the pipe (3c) coming from the compressor, first pushing it upwards and then pulling it downwards.

1. Working behind the engine, press the retainers (1a) for the rapid connector (1b), then disconnect the pipe (1c) for the air conditioning system, pushing it upwards first and then pulling it downwards.

2. Disconnect the pipe (2a) for the air conditioning system from the band (2b) on the bulkhead.

- Lower the vehicle.

1. Undo the nut (1a) and disconnect the connector (1b) for the air conditioning system pipe from the expansion valve (1c).

1. Working on the right side of the engine compartment, undo the nut (1a) and open the band (1b).

2. Remove the tandem supply and return pipe from the evaporator.

1. Undo the linear transducer, if necessary.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Check that the tandem supply and return pipe from the evaporator is not damaged and has no cracks that could adversely affect the seal.

Replace the O-rings on the connectors. Only use green coloured seals that are resistant to R134a coolant.

Lubricate the connector threads using anti-freeze.

1. If removed, screw in the linear transducer and tighten it to the recommended torque.

- Place the tandem supply and return pipe from the evaporator in position.

- Working on the right side of the engine compartment, connect the pipe to the band and screw in the nut.

1. Connect the connector (1a) for the air conditioning system pipe to the expansion valve (1b), then screw in the nut (1c) and tighten it to the recommended torque.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Connect the pipe for the air conditioning system to the band on the bulkhead.

- Working behind the engine, connect the rapid connector for the pipe and attach the retainers.

- Working behind the right side of the condenser, connect the rapid connector and attach the retainers.

- Connect the electrical connection for the linear transducer.

- Connect the retaining bands to the pipes.

1. Connect the connector (1a) and the connector (1b) to the condenser (1c), then screw in the bolt (1d) and tighten it to the recommended torque.
