CLIMATE CONTROL NODE CORRECT OPERATION CHECK

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

With the engine started up, set the climate control system control unit to the AUTO position, adjust the temperature knob to 22°C, set the fan speed to 8 bars, then press the recirculation button (check that the symbol appears on the display). Check that the air flow rate varies during the opening/closing of the flap. Also locate the grille in the engine compartment for the air intake casing and check the air intake when switching from recirculation to outside air intake

When the control unit is set to the FULL AUTO function and the outside temperature is below 3°C the air intake flap opens automatically to prevent the windscreen from misting up

Move on to Step 2

1. The recirculation symbol does not appear on the display

2. The recirculation symbol appears on the display (but the recirculation does not work).

1. Move on to Step 4

2. Move on to Step 2

CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check:

- that there are no errors at the air recirculation actuator;

- that there are no faults in the AQS sensor

Move on to Step 5

1. Errors in the recirculation actuator.

2. Errors in the AQS sensor

1. Move on to Step 3

2. Move on to Step 4

3

CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Keeping the Examiner diagnostic equipment connected, check, through active diagnosis,

- that the air recirculation is working properly;

- that all the LEDs and graphic LCD symbols in the display come on

Move on to Step 5

1. Air recirculation actuator not working

2. The LED with the recirculation symbol does not light up

1. Move on to Step 4

2. Replace the climate control system control unit

Op. 5040D15 CONTROL UNIT WITH KNOBS AND BUTTONS FOR DUAL ZONE AIR CONDITIONER - R.R.

4

CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

- that the recirculation flap is working properly in automatic mode by carrying out the "Pollution sensor test".

If the result is negative

See Test 5040DD AQS POLLUTION SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK

End of diagnosis

1. AQS sensor not working

2. Wiring faulty

1.Replace AQS sensor

2. Repair the wiring

5

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECK

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Check whether the electrical wiring connections are loose.

Remove the control unit from the panel mounting, disconnect the wiring connector from the control unit, check visually for any damage to the connector and reconnect correctly to check for false contacts.

Remove the oddments pocket and disconnect the connector, inspecting visually for any damage to it and reconnect the electrical connector to the actuator

Move on to Step 6

Electrical wiring connections loose or damaged

Restore the correct wiring connections

CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION OF RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Then proceed as follows: with the engine running, switch on the recirculation air intake function manually with the fan at the maximum speed. If the actuator works and the flap is driven, feel to check whether the air flow rate varies during the movement. Deactivate the function by returning the actuator to its original condition. Identify the air intake casing grille on the vehicle and check the air intake in the shift from recirculation to outside air and the other way round by feeling with your hand. If the result of the check is positive, do not replace the actuator. If there are further doubts as to the operation of the actuator, it is possible to carry out the check following the instructions described below if the air intake casing is easily accessible.

See Test 5040DE SEQUENTIAL PROCEDURE FOR CHECKING RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR OPERATION

Move on to Step 7

Incorrect operation of recirculation actuator

Replace the recirculation actuator

Op. 5040D75 AIR CONDITIONING RECIRCULATION FLAP CONTROL MOTOR - R.R

7

RECIRCULATION ACTUATOR FLAP CHECK

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Visually inspect that the air recirculation actuator flap completes its travel without any hinderance

End of diagnosis

1. Flap travel incomplete

2. Flap damaged

3. Kinematic mechanism damaged

1.Free the air recirculation actuator flap from the impediment

2.Replace the flap

3.Repair kinematic mechanism

For vehicles with AQS sensors only, the recirculation is not closed automatically if there is pollution (CO, NO2 toxic gases only)
