Removing ( Refitting )

Follow the recommended safety instructions (see 5040 - Introduction).

   Op. 5040 AIR CONDITIONING CASING AND COMPONENTS

- Drain the coolant.

   Op. 0010T84 AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM REFRIGERANT - DEHYDRATING AND REPRESSURIZING

- Drain the engine coolant.

   Op. 0010T20 ENGINE COOLANT - CHANGE

- According to the vehicle engine type, remove any parts that hinder the disconnection of the following pipes:

- air conditioning system pipe connection on expansion valve

- fluid supply and return pipes to the air conditioning casing heater.

1. Undo the nut (1a) and disconnect the connectors (1b) and (1c) for the air conditioning system pipes from the expansion valve.

Seal the connectors that have been disconnected using suitable plugs to prevent dampness and impurities from entering the system.

1. Disconnect the rapid connectors for the air conditioning casing heater supply and return pipes.

- Work on both sides.

1. Working on the right side of the tunnel, disconnect the condensation drainage pipe (1b) from the air conditioning casing (1b), after having released it from the retainer (1c).

1. Disconnect the earth lead (1a) and the electrical connection (1b).

1. Release the rear seat air ducts and remove them.

1. Release the support for the wiring from the air conditioning casing.

2. Remove the air conditioner casing.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Check that the air conditioner casing is not damaged.

- Position the air conditioning casing.

- Attach the support for the wiring to the air conditioning casing.

- Position the rear seat air ducts and attach them.

- Connect the electrical connection.

- Connect the earth lead.

- Attach the condensation drainage pipe to the air conditioning casing and attach it to the retainer.

- Connect the rapid connectors for the supply and return pipes to the air conditioning casing heater.

Replace the O-rings for the connectors. Only use green coloured seals that are resistant to R134A coolant.

Lubricate the connector threads using anti-freeze.

- Connect the connectors for the air conditioning system pipes to the expansion valve and screw in the nut, then tighten it to the recommended torque.

- Refit any parts removed to gain access to the following pipes:

- air conditioning system pipe connection on expansion valve

- fluid supply and return pipes to the air conditioning casing heater.

- Repressurize the engine coolant.

   Op. 0010T20 ENGINE COOLANT - CHANGE

- Repressurize the coolant.
