- Open the tailgate.

1. Check that the buffers (1a) are working properly. Adjust them if necessary.

2. Check the efficiency of the self-adjusting buffer. Replace it if necessary.

- If the adjustments indicated in the previous points are insufficient, adjust the position of the tailgate hinges as described below.

Support the tailgate appropriately when necessary.

1. Working from both sides of the vehicle, loosen the tailgate bolts (1a) and adjust the tailgate position using the slotted holes in the hinges.

The arrows indicate the possible movements.

2. After adjustment, tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

- If necessary, adjust the lock striker position as described below.

- If the adjustment of the fastening between the tailgate and the hinges is insufficient, proceed as follows.

1. Release the tailgate housing seal (1a) in the roof panel area (1b).

2. Release the retaining buttons (2a) using the special tool.

1. Gently lower the rear part of the roof lining (1a), then loosen the screws (1b) on both sides of the vehicle securing the tailgate hinges (1c) to the bodyshell and adjust the position of the actual hinges making use of the slotted openings.

The arrows indicate the possible movements.

2. After adjustment, tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

- If necessary, adjust the lock striker position as described below.

- Position the roof cover and attach the retainers.

- Fit the tailgate housing seal.
