Removing ( Refitting )

Before removing and refitting the airbag module the following preliminary operations must be carried out

- Turn the ignition key to “STOP” and extract it;

- Disconnect the battery cables and insulate them.

- Wait for 10 seconds before continuing.

1. Undo the screws (1a) fixing the airbag (1b).

1. Move the airbag module (1a) slightly, releasing the retainers (1b) and (1c).

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the airbag module.

2. Keep the airbag module.

- Place the airbag module in the special cupboard, resting it on a free surface with the bag facing upwards.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Observe the following precaution.

Handle the airbag module very carefully. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.

If a new module is installed, remove the detachable part of the adhesive label (if any) from the new module and place it in the special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old module. The folder must be kept for any checks necessary.

- Connect the electrical connection.

- Position the airbag module and attach the retainers.

1. Tighten the screws (1a) fixing the airbag module (1b).

- Connect the battery.

- Use an Examiner to check that the system has not acquired errors during the operation.
