Removing ( Refitting )

It is not possible to order key lock barrels on their own or to order lock barrels with the part code only. To order lock barrels, follow the procedure given in 5580E - Special Accessories.

1. Lower the steering wheel position adjustment lever to the end of its travel.

2. Unscrew the steering column lower cover bolts.

3. Remove the lower steering wheel cover by releasing it from its seat.

1. Insert the ignition key in the lock barrel and turn to MAR.

2. Use a screwdriver to push in barrel retaining tooth (2a).

3. Use the ignition key to withdraw lock barrel (3a) from the ignition.

1. Remove retaining ring (1a) from lock barrel.

1. Turn ignition key (1a) to STOP, then move cursor (1b) in the direction of the arrow, to the end of travel and extract lock barrel (1c) using the ignition key.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Check that the lock barrel for the key is not damaged.

- Insert the ignition key in the lock barrel to the end of travel.

1. Turn ignition key (1a) to STOP, then move cursor (1b) in the direction of the arrow, to the end of travel and extract lock barrel (1c) using the ignition key.

1. Refit retaining ring (1a) from key lock barrel.

- Turn ignition key (1a) to MAR, then insert the lock barrel in the ignition switch and put the retaining tooth in position again.

- Extract the ignition key.

- Arrange the lower steering wheel cover and engage it in its seat.

- Tighten the lower steering column trim bolts.

- Adjust the steering wheel in medium position.

- Test the operation of the barrel (electrical system and steering lock).
