Removing ( Refitting )

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

- Using suitable measuring equipment, measure the cutting area for the subsequent removal of the rear silencer.

- With reference to the flange flat surface, measure a distance of 1501.0 mm and trace the measurement on the exhaust pipe for the subsequent cutting.

1. Undo the bolt securing the rear exhaust silencer mounting bracket.

2. Disconnect the rear exhaust silencer (2a) from the flexible mounting (2b) and secure it appropriately.

1. Disconnect the exhaust pipe intermediate support flexible mounting.

1. Undo the nuts (1a), disconnect the exhaust pipe (1b) and secure it appropriately.

- Remove the gasket.

- Cut the exhaust pipe by the reference mark traced previously.

- Remove the rear exhaust silencer.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Using a file, remove the bevel from the cut end of the exhaust pipe.

- Place the new rear exhaust silencer in position and join it to the exhaust pipe using the metal band supplied by the Parts Dept.

- Tighten the metal band nut.

- Connect the rear exhaust pipe to the flexible mountings and to the intermediate exhaust pipe with the flexible section using a new gasket.

- Tighten the bolt securing the rear exhaust silencer mounting bracket.

1. Tighten the nuts (1a) securing the exhaust pipe (1b) to the intermediate exhaust pipe with the flexible section to the recommended torque.
