Rest the engine on the stand

1. Loosen the bands and remove the heater water supply and return pipes, thermostat side.

2. Loosen the band and remove the radiator engine coolant delivery pipe, thermostat side.

1. Loosen the band and remove the water pump return pipe.

2. Undo the screw (2a), loosen the clamp (2b) and remove air outlet pipes from the turbocharger.

1. Undo the screw fastening the coolant delivery pipe retaining intermediate bracket.

1. Undo the screw fastening the coolant return pipe retaining intermediate bracket.

1. Undo the screws and remove the coolant supply and return pipes from the air conditioning compressor.

1. Fit the clutch locating tool.

2. Unscrew the three bolts securing the clutch mechanism at 120 degrees.

1. Fit the tools (1a) and (1b) as shown in the figure and rotate the handwheel until it touches the pins next to the flange.

2. Undo the remaining screws fixing the clutch mechanism to the flywheel.

- Undo the tool handwheel to release the clutch mechanism diaphragm spring.

- Remove the tools and the clutch mechanism.

1. Remove the clutch locating tool (1a) with the clutch plate (1b).

1. Fit the flywheel locking tool (1a), undo the screws (1b) and remove engine flywheel (1c)

1. Undo the screw (1a) and remove the engine flywheel guards (1b).

1. Install the mounting bracket on the engine block.

1. With a suitable hydraulic hoist, place the engine on the overhaul stand.

Removal of engine from the stand

- Support the engine using the mounting tools and a suitable hydraulic hoist.

- Undo the fastenings securing the engine block to the overhaul stand bracket.

- Place the engine on a suitable board.

- Place the engine flywheel guards in position and tighten the screw securing them to the oil sump.

1. Place the engine flywheel (1a) in its housing, fit the flywheel locking tool (1b) and tighten the new screws (1c) - previously approached - to the prescribed torque.

1. Install the clutch locating tool (1a) and the clutch plate (1b).

Check the fitting position of the clutch plate identified by the words "engine side" or "gearbox side".

Handle the clutch plate with care, do not touch the friction lining surface with your hands.

1. Place the clutch mechanism in its housing and fit the tools (1a) and (1b).

- Turn the tool handwheel until the pins are in contact with the flange.

2. Tighten the loose clutch fixing screws by hand, as shown in the figure.

- Undo the tool handwheel to release the clutch mechanism diaphragm spring.

- Remove the previously fitted tools, excluding the clutch locating tool.

- Tighten the three remaining clutch assembly retaining screws by hand.

1. Gradually tighten the screws securing the clutch crosswise until the prescribed torque is reached.

2. Remove the clutch locating tool.

- Remove the flywheel locking tool.

1. Place the coolant delivery and return pipes in their seats, connect the connectors to the compressor and tighten the screws to the prescribed torque.

- Tighten the screws securing the coolant delivery and return pipe intermediate brackets.

- Connect the air outlet pipes from the turbocharger, tighten the clamp and the screw on the intermediate bracket.

- Connect the return pipe from the water pump and tighten the relevant band.

- Connect the engine coolant delivery pipe to the radiator, thermostat side, and tighten the relevant band.

- Connect the heater water delivery and return pipes, thermostat side and tighten the relevant bands.
