	Strong steering wheel vibrations with the vehicle stationary, constantly, or in certain steering positions.	End of diagnosis.	Steering box defective.	DO NOT replace the Electric Steering unit
		End of diagnosis.	No problems are detected in the steering box.	Replace the Electric Steering assembly.
3	GEOMETRY CHECKS	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the wheel geometry and tyre wear are correct	Move on to Step 4	Tyres worn.	Replace the tyres.
			Pressure not correct.	Restore pressure.
			Geometry not correct.	Restore the geometry. Op. 4450A10 FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT - INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY or Op. 4450A40 REAR WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDES ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY
4	CHECK ON STEERING HEAVINESS UNIFORMITY	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	With the vehicle stationary, check that the heaviness of the steering varies from one end of travel to the other	Move on to Step 5	The steering heaviness and/or return is uniform.	Do not adjust the EPS system. Check for faults in the steering box and the front suspension assembly.
5	CHECK ON THE EXTENT OF THE FAULT	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check whether the heaviness is slight or more serious.	-	The heaviness is slight and occurs during parking manoeuvres.	Do not intervene; the EPS system does not assist the return of the steering from stationary.
	Check whether the heaviness is slight or more serious.	-	The heaviness is quite considerable.	Move on to Step 6.
6	MECHANICAL CHECKS	All OK	Problems encountered	Operation
	Check that the steering box and the linkage for the steering components are working properly. In particular, make sure that there is no friction that could have an adverse effect on the operation of the components.	-	Defects discovered in the operation of the steering components.	DO NOT intervene on the Electric Steering assembly.
