Noise similar to the reversal of the steering wheel (with the system activated) or a series of multiple bangs when steering.

The noise is not the metallic and/or mechanical type.

 

Do not adjust the EPS system.

CHECK ON FAULT DETECTION CONDITIONS

Check whether the noise persists even without the driver's airbag.

The noise does not occur after the driver's airbag is removed.

 

Do not repair the EPS system, rather the defective component.

CHECK ON NOISE FROM OTHER COMPONENTS

Operation

 

 

Check (with the system activated) that the nut for the fork on the steering box pinion and on the lower part of the EPS system are correctly tightened to torque, then make sure that the noise is no longer present by moving the steering wheel briskly.

End of diagnosis.

 

The fault occurs again, especially when the steering wheel is moved briskly.

 

DO NOT replace the electric steering assembly. Problem with the intermediate shaft.

Customer complains of noise from the electric steering system with the vehicle moving.
