Refitting

- Place the car on a lift.

   Op. 7055B54 PROTECTION/GUARD UNDER ENGINE -R.R.

1. Disconnect the electrical connector of the cylinder no. 4 injector and move the relevant wiring aside.

1. Remove the camshaft protective plug, inlet side.

1. Rotate the crankshaft in its standard direction of rotation and fit the camshaft timing tool.

1. Fit the camshaft timing template.

1. Loosen the nut (1a) for the moving tensioner and remove the timing belt (1b).

1. Fit the tool (1a) and loosen the driven pulley (1c) fixing screw (1b).

- Remove the previously fitted driven pulley locking tool.

- Proceed with fitting the timing drive belt, first fitting it on the crankshaft gear, on the water pump pulley, on the driven pulley and lastly on the mobile tensioner.

Ensure that this operation is performed with the driven pulley slack.

1. Tension the timing belt as much as possible, rotating the mobile tensioner (1a) counterclockwise, then fasten it by the nut (1a) when the reference (1c) is in the position shown in the figure.

1. Fit the tool (1a) and tighten the driven pulley (1c) fixing screw (1b) to the prescribed torque.

- Remove the previously fitted driven pulley locking tool.

- Remove the tools used for timing the camshafts and the crankshaft.

- Rotate the crankshaft through two revolutions.

1. Loosen the nut securing the moving tensioner (1a) and move the same until the notch (1b) is aligned with the rear fork (1c).

2. Tighten the nut fixing the moving timing belt tensioner of the timing belt to the prescribed torque.

- Turn the crankshaft through two revolutions in its normal rotation direction, then reposition the tools used to adjust timing, to check the engine timing.

- Remove the tools used for timing the engine.

1. Place the camshaft protection plug in its housing, intake side, and tighten it to the prescribed torque.
