Refitting

- Position the vehicle on a lift.

   Op. 7055B54 PROTECTION/GUARD UNDER ENGINE -R.R.

1. Undo the screw fixing the engine flywheel lower guard, left side.

1. Undo the screws fixing the engine flywheel lower guard, right side.

1. Undo the screws fixing the gearbox to the engine oil sump.

1. Undo the nuts (1a) and the screws (1b) securing the oil sump to the engine block.

1. Loosen and remove the studs for engine oil sump fastening to the oil pump.

1. Cut the sealant using the tool (1a) and remove the engine oil sump (1b) with lower flywheel guard.

1. Place the engine oil sump in a vice fitted with protective jaws, undo the screw (1a) and remove the flywheel lower guard (1b).

1. Carefully clean the engine oil sump surface from the sealant residues.

1. Carefully clean the engine block lower surface from the sealant residues.

Removing

- Place the engine flywheel lower guard in position and tighten the relevant screws.

- Apply sealant to the engine oil sump fitting surface.

- Place the engine oil sump back in position taking care to make the hole on the flywheel lower guard correspond to the locating pin on the gearbox.

1. Tighten the screws fixing the gearbox to the engine sump to the prescribed torque.

- Tighten the two studs removed previously from the engine oil pump.

1. Tighten to the prescribed torque the nuts (1a) and the screws (1b) securing the oil sump to the engine block.

- Tighten the side screws securing the engine flywheel lower guard.

- Remove the vehicle from the lift.

1. Apply a strip of silicone sealant to the contact surfaces between the crankcase sump and engine block as shown in the diagram in the figure.

The sealant strip must be uninterrupted. The sealant strip diameter must be 3.5 +/- 0.5 mm.

1. Undo the screws fixing the gearbox to the engine oil sump.

1. Undo the nuts (1a) and the screws (1b) fixing the engine oil sump.

1. Cut the sealant using the tool (1a) and remove the engine oil sump (1b).
