- The windscreen sealant can be cut using piano wire or a vibrating knife; both methods are described below.

- To cut using a piano wire, proceed as described below.

1. Cut a length of wire of about 80 cm then, using pliers, introduce one end (1a) of the wire through the bead of sealant (1b) securing the windscreen.

2. Fasten one end (1a) of the wire to the special retaining tool (2a) located inside the vehicle.

Fasten one end (2b) of the wire to the traction handle (2c) located outside the vehicle.

3. The operator inside the car must keep the end of tool (2a) on the sealant bead (1b) about 30 cm from the point where the wire passes through.

The other mechanic, outside the vehicle, should pull the handle (2c) following the surround of the windscreen and they should cut the bead of sealant (1b).

When necessary, position a spatula (2d) by the tool (2a) to protect the inner parts of the vehicle.

Repeat the operation is sections of about 30 cm until the sealant (1b) is completely cut.Take care over the retaining mountings (3a) during the cutting stage.

- To cut using a vibrating knife, proceed as described below.

1. Use the vibrating knife (1a) and blade (1b).

Working from inside the vehicle, cut the sealant strip (1c) along the entire perimeter of the windscreen.

Take care over the retaining mountings (1d) during the cutting stage.

- Preparing a removed window.

1. The glass that is removed can only be reused if it has not been damaged during the removal.

2. Using a suitable tool cut and level the sealant strip (2a) on the windscreen so that the thickness is reduced to a minimum.

The remaining sealant does not have to be removed completely; take care not to damage the black serigraphy on the perimeter of the glass and the side seals (2b) and the upper seal (2c).

The side seals (2b) and the upper seal (2c) also act as spacers for the glass in relation to the body during the bonding stage.

3. Clean the perimeter of the screen-printed area of the windscreen thoroughly with compressed air and degrease it using heptane.

Check that the glass is not damaged.

When bonding more than 60 minutes after the sealant bead has been cut and levelled, the surface of the sealant itself must be treated using the special activating product and it is necessary to wait for 15 minutes before fixing the windscreen.

- New window preparation.

1. Degrease screen-printed perimeter (1a) of the new windscreen using heptane.

2. Apply the glass adhesion promoter (primer) to the serigraphed perimeter using the wick supplied in the Kit.

Wait for about 15 minutes before continuing with the next operation to allow the adhesion promoter (primer) thinner to evaporate.

3. Check that the side seals (3a) and the upper seal (3b) are intact.

1. Carry out a test fitting and centre the windscreen as follows:

- centre the windscreen perfectly in relation to the front side pillars

- keep a distance of 3.6 ± 1.3 mm between the windscreen and the roof

2. When the windscreen has been centred, mark the position of the windscreen in relation to the housing using strips of adhesive tape.

3. Cut the strips of adhesive tape and remove the windscreen.
