Removing ( Refitting )

Before removing and refitting the airbag module the following preliminary operations must be carried out.

- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and extract it.

- Disconnect the battery cables and insulate them.

- Wait for 10 seconds before continuing.

FOLLOW ALL THE RECOMMENDED SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

- Move the seat forward into the end of travel position.

1. Working at the back of the front seat, extract the end (1a) of the zip fastening (1a).

2. Open the zip fastening (1b) along the entire length.

1. Disconnect the lower retaining profile (1a) for the outer edge of the backrest cover.

2. Disconnect the backrest cover lower retaining profiles (2a) and (2b), connected to each other.

1. Move the backrest cover and padding (1a) to the side in order to access the airbag module fastenings.

2. Undo the nuts fixing the airbag module.

3. Disconnect the earth lead from the threaded pin.

1. Move the airbag module.

2. Disconnect the electrical connection.

3. Keep the airbag module.

Place the airbag module in the special cabinet, resting it on a free surface with the bag facing upwards.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Observe the following precaution.

Handle the airbag module very carefully. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.

- If a new module is being fitted, position the labels as described below.

- Remove the detachable part of the adhesive label (if present) from the new module. Place a copy of the label in a special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old module. The folder must be kept for any checks necessary.

- Connect the electrical connection to the airbag module.

- Place the airbag module in its housing.

- Connect the earth lead to the threaded pin.

- Tighten the nuts fixing the airbag module.

- Position the padding on the seat frame and fit the backrest cover on the padding.

- Connect the backrest cover lower retaining profiles.

- Close the zip fastening along the entire length.

- Fit the end of the zip fastening inside the cover.

- Retract the seat to a mid way position.

- Connect the battery and use Examiner to check that the system has not stored errors during the operation.
