Removing ( Refitting )

Before removing and refitting the airbag module the following preliminary operations must be carried out.

- Turn the ignition key to “STOP” and extract it;

- Disconnect the battery cables and insulate them.

- Wait for 10 seconds before continuing.

1. Undo the screws.

2. Move the airbag module slightly.

3. Disconnect the electrical connections (3a) and (3b).

AIRBAG ON DASHBOARD (PASSENGER SIDE)

 

   See Q011 AIR BAG IN DASHBOARD (PASSENGER SIDE)

- Place the airbag module in the special cupboard, resting it on a free surface with the bag facing upwards.

Refitting ( Removing )

- Observe the following precaution.

Handle the airbag module very carefully. Make sure that the battery is disconnected.

If a new module is installed, remove the detachable part of the adhesive label (if any) from the new module and place it in the special folder containing the vehicle details (model, registration date, chassis number) and the serial number of the old module. The folder must be kept for any checks necessary.

1. Connect the electrical connections (1a) and (1b).

2. Position the airbag module.

3. Tighten the screws.

- Connect the battery.

- Use an Examiner to check that the system has not acquired errors during the operation.

1. Open the dashboard compartment.

1. Release the end of travel retainers (1a) and lower the dashboard compartment (1b).
