STEP

CHECK TO BE CARRIED OUT

REMEDIAL ACTION IF THE CHECK IS NOT OK

1

Check continuity of pump winding

Disconnect the battery leads

Disconnect pump relay switch T17

Connect to the Examiner in ohmmeter mode between pin 87 of the engine compartment fuse box connector and earth

Check that the electric pump winding resistance is 1.5 Ohm ± 20% at 20°C. Go to step 2.

Restore the pump earth connection.

2

Electric pump uptake check

Disconnect the negative battery lead

Disconnect petrol pump relay switch T17

Reconnect the negative battery lead.

Connect 10 A pliers No. 1806505000 to the Examiner diagnosis equipment using cable EX01 in Examiner Kit case No. 1806337000

Bridge pin 87 with pin 30 of the connector for relay switch T17 using a lead fitted with a 15 A fuse.

Position the 10A ammeter pliers so that they close around the bridge

Make sure that plier jaws are completely closed; this is signalled by the red LED on the pliers going out

Check that the current uptake value is between 4 and 8 A with a battery voltage of no less than 12.50 V.

Replace the fuel supply pump

Op. 1040A70 SUBMERGED PUMP ASSEMBLY COMPLETE WITH LEVEL GAUGE CONTROL - R + R

Replace the 15 A fuse F21, if blown, after identifying the cause for this failure

Restore the continuity of the wiring between the junction unit and the pump

Replace the pump relay

Restore the continuity of the wiring between the junction unit and the engine control unit.

Replace the junction unit
