Warnings in case of removing/refitting - Network Information

Cancels and replaces Service News 55.07.10 of 23/04/2010 for Alfa MiTo.

As an addition to the instructions on the Service Manuals - General features, remember that the following instructions should be complied with:

  • NEVER disconnect the battery when the key is at MAR-ON position or the engine is running.
  • The battery should only be disconnected after waiting at least 60 seconds after positioning the key to STOP. This is to allow the engine management control unit to complete the power latch stage and update the information in the internal memory.
  • The battery disconnection in case of cars with automatic transmission (such as MiTo and Giulietta with TCT and 159/Brera with Selespeed and Q-Tronic gearbox) should only be performed after waiting at least 60 seconds after positioning the key to STOP and/or opening the driver's side door.
  • Do not start up the engine when the terminals for the electrical connections are badly connected or slack at the battery poles.

Failure to comply with the above precautions could cause serious damage to the vehicle's electrical/electronic components.

IMPORTANT

VEHICLES WITH PETROL/LPG FUEL SUPPLY

If the battery is disconnected within 1 minute from the engine switching off, the EPROM CCM writing procedure is interrupted and the LPG control unit irreparably loses all parameters, with missed shifting to LPG at the following start up; the LPG control unit must be replaced.

MITO AND GIULIETTA CARS WITH TCT

After any charging or replacement operation of the battery, make a starting process and check on the instrument panel that the gearbox failure warning light is not on. If the gearbox failure warning light is on, use the diagnosis equipment to check for possible DTC errors.

If the error P290D is found (Self-calibration at the end of line/service) in the Automatic Transmission control unit, use the diagnosis instrument to perform the self-calibration procedures at end of line/service before the delivery of the vehicle.
