4110 D 200 AA ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DEVICE
Position sensor calibration - Examiner C1008 error (position sensor calibration) - VDC warning light - Network information

After replacing the electric steering devices, the VDC could be connected to the steering box column with the position sensor turned to a position other than central position (offset by 360° or 720° either leftwards or rightwards).

Examiner may not allow to calibrate the position sensor in this condition and the following message may appear: WARNING - Test not possible - Incorrect conditions.

The fault is also indicated by the VDC warning light on the instrument panel and by Examiner with error C1008 - position sensor calibration.

Proceed as follows to restore correct alignment and allow position sensor calibration:

Make sure that the wheels are straight.

-disconnect the intermediate shaft from steering box side;-remove the steering stalks;-refit the steering wheel temporarily in central position, turn it by 360 degrees rightwards;-turn the key to MAR and try to calibrate the position sensor with Examiner;-if the result is negative again, turn the key to STOP, turn again rightwards by one full turn, turn the key to MAR and try to recalibrate the position sensor with Examiner;-if the result is still negative, turn three times leftwards and then once more leftwards if unsuccessful (the system may have be fitted offset by up to two turns either rightwards or two turns leftwards);-refit/reconnect the previously removed/disconnected components.
