Service Solution

In case of a reported problem from the Customer, check the functioning of the switch on the brake pedal and be sure that it is mounted correctly as shown in the following Operating Cycle.

OPERATION CYCLE

Detach the brake pedal switch. Referring to Op. 1056B28 (for vehicles with a petrol engine) or 1060G38 (for vehicles with a diesel engine) as present in the Service Manual.

If necessary replace the switch with a new component no. 50512681 recieved from Spare Parts.

Reposition the switch, being sure of the correct mounting: the interruptor should turn in its anchoring until full-lock is reached (a click is heard and the switch cannot turn any further).

If this situation does not arise the positioning will be unstable and will lead to malfunctioning (late light-up of STOP lights and/or failure messages in the VDC system).

For easy reference turn to Installment and Reinstallment Procedures of the brake pedal switch (op. 1056B28 or 1060G38).

-Detach the underside of the dashboard (referring to Op. 7040A24 in the Service Manual)-Detach the lower air diffusor (referring to Op. 5010C55 in the Service Manual).

Then proceed to detach the switch:

-Disengage the brake pedal from the pedal support by turning it 45° towards the clutch pedal, as shown in the diagram.

Fig. 1

-Disconnect the electric connection (1a) and remove the brake pedal switch (1b).

    Fig. 2

Then proceed to reattach the switch:

The reattachment of the switch should be carried out with the brake pedal at rest to avoid collapsing the push rods.

-Lock the brake pedal in a position of rest (1a) using the appropriate support.

      Fig. 3

-Connect the electric connection and put the brake pedal switch back into its position in its housing turning it 45° towards the accelerator pedal, as shown in the diagram.

The switch should turn in its own anchoring until full lock is reached (a click will be heard and the switch will not turn any further).

        Fig. 4

Remove the brake pedal locking support and test the functioning of the stop lights.

-Reattach the lower air diffusor (referring to Op. 5010C55 in the Service Manual)-Reattach the lower covering of the dashboard (ref. Op. 7040A24 of the Service Manual)
