OPERATIONS IN NETWORK

We are informing you that the car registration of the Euro 4 models/engine versions listed below can be upgraded to Euro 5 certification.

A specific eSales / eService form has been prepared (for Fiat Group Automobiles network) for checking if upgrading from Euro 4 to Euro 5 is possible.

THE CAR REGISTRATION MUST BE UPGRADED ONLY WHEN THE CUSTOMER SPECIFICALLY ASKS TO UPGRADE FROM EURO 4 TO EURO 5.

NO CAR REGISTRATION UPGRADES ARE NEEDED WHEN UPGRADING THE CCM FOR REASONS OTHER THAN THOSE ILLUSTRATED HERE.

IN SUCH CASES, THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS DO NOT APPLY.

OPERATION CYCLE

Following a customer''s request to change from Euro4 to Euro5, the following operations must be made:

1) Enter upgrade request (*)

2) Check upgrade request state (*)

3) Reflash the engine ECU (CCM)

4) Apply new label to CCM

5) Issue new car registration (*)

(*) For Italy only. Refer to the specific market Technical Service for other countries.

Enter upgrade request

Proceed as shown below following the customer’s request to upgrade from Euro 4 to Euro 5:

-Access the eSales or the eService-Link. Select in sequence MENU – Vehicle Upgrade Request . The screen shown in Fig. 1 will appear.

A manual containing more detailed information on the upgrade will be published on eService.

    -Select Add new request (1 – Fig. 1). The window shown in Fig. 2 will appear.

      -Enter the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) read on the car log book in the Vehicle Data field (1 - Fig. 2). Type in the entire 17 character code shown in Fig.3.

        - The system will check the entered data and output either of the following two replies:

        1. Vehicle can be upgraded to EURO 5 after: xx/xx/xxxx

        2. Vehicle cannot be upgraded to EURO 5

        In first case (vehicle which can be upgraded after a given date), inform the customer that the car can be upgraded after the indicated date. You may fix an appointment for the upgrading procedure.

        In the second case (vehicle which cannot be upgraded), inform the customer that his or her car cannot be upgraded to Euro 5.

        If the car can be upgraded, the system to prepare an upgrade request to send to FGA. A page with the pre- and post-upgrade data will appear (1 - Fig. 4).

        In this case, inform the customer about the upgrade procedure from Euro 4 to Euro 5 and if he or she is interested ask the customer to fill in the upgrade request form (see Annex 1 at the end of this Service News). The customer request form must be filed and shown to FGA personnel if required.

          To ask for approval:

          -Scan the vehicle registration document and attach it, using the Browse button (2 – Fig.4).-La dimensione massima consentita per l’allegato è di 1 MB e l’estensione deve essere in uno dei formati seguenti : .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .doc, .pdf, .tif, .tiff, .bmp. Other file formats and/or files of more that 1MB are not allowed.-By pressing the Save button (3 - Fig. 4) the format and the size of the vehicle registration document are checked and the request is forwarded to FGA.-In case of error, the system will show specific warning messages.-Fiat Group Automobiles will examine the received data and documents and after checking will update the system specifying the result of the request and attaching the authorisation, where applicable.

          Check request status

          Display the request status to check if the request has been approved by FGA: print the authorisation directly from the system if the request has been “Accepted”.

          On the main screen, press Extract(1 - Fig. 5) to view all the upgrade requests and their status.

            The following filters can be applied to make the search easier: Model, Request Status, Notes issued by FGA.

            For every existing request there is a Request status column (1 - Fig. 6) which could contain any one of the following four values:

            -Added: the request has just been uploaded and has not yet been reviewed by the FGA.-Accepted:the request has been approved by FGA. In this case the “Authorised” column contains the name of a PDF file containing the Permission document issued by FGA. To save/print the Authorisation it is necessary to go into the detail of the request.-Incomplete:the request has been evaluated by FGA, but contains errors (e.g. the vehicle registration is not valid). In this case, the ''''Notes from FGA'''' column will contain the instructions to correct the application.-Refused: the request has been rejected by FGA.

              -After receiving the Authorisation, carry out the expected service operation (reflash software and apply sticker on ECU).

              Reflash the engine ecu

              -Reflash the engine ECU using Examiner release 7.60 (or higher) and Flash version 5.50.2 (or higher), available from Examiner WEB.

              To reflash, the car battery must be fully charged or supported by a battery charger/extra battery, so as to guarantee the nominal voltage of 12V.

              Apply new label to ccm

              -Order a new adhesive label (see Spare Parts Department table).-Apply the adhesive label to the engine ECU as specified for the various models/engines.

              Clean and accurately degrease the application area of the label (1 - Fig. 7) to guarantee correct adhesion.

              -Apply the new label (2 - Fig. 7) being sure to cover the existing label perfectly.

                -Remove sound-proof cover of the engine (1 - Fig. 8) referring to Op. 1016A10 of the Service Manual.

                Clean and accurately degrease the application area of the label (2 - Fig. 8) to guarantee correct adhesion.

                -Apply the new label (2 - Fig. 8) being sure to cover the existing label perfectly.

                  -Refit sound-proof cover of the engine referring to Op. 1016A10 of the Service Manual.

                  1.6 Mjet engine

                  -Remove sound-proof cover of the engine (1 - Fig. 9) referring to Op. 1016A10 of the Service Manual.

                  Clean and accurately degrease the application area of the label (2 - Fig. 9) to guarantee correct adhesion.

                  -Apply the new label (2 - Fig. 9) being sure to cover the existing label perfectly.

                    -Refit sound-proof cover of the engine referring to Op. 1016A10 of the Service Manual.

                    Issue new car registration

                    Italian Market

                    After performing the intervention, give the customer:

                    -Declaration of the work completed according to rules of best practice (see Annex 2 below Service News).-Authorisation issued by Fiat Group Automobiles (see Annex 3 at the end of this Service News)

                    The customer must go to a Motor Vehicle Authority office (or an authorised automobile affairs agency) for the adaptation of registration, including the following documents:

                    -Vehicle Registration-Authorisation issued by Fiat Group Automobiles-Declaration of work completed to the letter

                    Following the positive completion of the visit and test of converted vehicle, the Vehicle Authority will update registration and issue a temporary document for circulation according to local regulations.

                    It is also declared that the work has been performed to the letter, conforming to legislation and regulations in force. Specifically, genuine spare parts of reliable quality have been used. The technical and technical and technological solutions adopted to guarantee the final results of the upgrade comply to the “rules of best practice”.

                    Qualified skill was employed in obedience to Mechanical Directives 89/92/ EEC, 91/368 EEC and 93/68 EEC, conforming to applied standards EN/292-418, so as to ensure content and completion of execution, safety, functionality and efficiency vehicle transfer/set-up.
