145 - MiTo   1.4 16v TJet   2nd lev. pass. Airbag resist.   B0105

To apply this procedure, the following must be borne in mind:

1 - Measurements cannot be taken on the Air Bag wiring

2 - System fault diagnosis should be started leaving the vehicle loads connected

3 - The fault should be 'Present' or 'Present Intermittently' and not 'Intermittent'. If the fault is Intermittent then the procedure is not applicable; proceed with an accurate check on the line where the fault was signalled

4 - Not all the simulation sensors are available (e.g. side impact sensors).

The airbag fault warning light is controlled by a dedicated connection to the airbag control unit Instrument Panel Node.

The Air Bag wiring is a safety component. If there are problems with the cables or the connectors then the wiring should be replaced in its entirety.

3

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION CHECK

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Check the electrical circuit for short circuits to Vbatt. and earth.

Go to Step 4

Short circuit to Vbatt.

Short circuit to earth

1. Restore insulation to + battery

2. Restore insulation to earth

4

PASSENGER'S AIRBAG CHECK

All OK

Problems encountered

Operation

Disconnect the passenger-side load from the wiring and connect the dummy resistance in its place. Turn the ignition key to MAR and activate communication with the diagnostic equipment. Check whether the fault in the passenger side front air bag has become intermittent

Go to Step 5

The fault is still Present

Turn the ignition key to the STOP position.

Replace the wiring
